Revelation 2:25-29 

Message to the Church in Thyatira

25But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. 26And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 28And I will give him the morning star. 29He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

25But until I come, you must hold firmly to the teaching you have.

26 I will give power over the nations to everyone who wins the victory and keeps on obeying me until the end. 27-28I will give each of them the same power my Father has given me. They will rule the nations with an iron rod and smash those nations to pieces like clay pots. I will also give them the morning star.+

29If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.

25다만 너희에게 있는 것을 내가 올 때까지 굳게 잡으라 26이기는 자와 끝까지 내 일을 지키는 그에게 만국을 다스리는 권세를 주리니 27그가 철장을 가지고 저희를 다스려 질그릇 깨뜨리는 것과 같이 하리라 나도 내 아버지께 받은 것이 그러하니라 28내가 또 그에게 새벽 별을 주리라 29귀있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다

말씀하시는 분은 예수님 자신이십니다.

1. 그분은 약속자 처럼 말하십니다. 그분이 당신의 교회들에 대하여 눈여겨 보는 것은 미래의 어떤 것, 곧 "보이지 않는 것", "바라는 것"입니다.

2. 그분은 주는 사람으로 말하십니다. "내가 줄 것이다." 그분은 처음부터 주는 사람이었습니다.

3. 그분은 이기는 자들에게 말씀하십니다. 비록 그 선물들이 보상은 아니지만, 우리가 전쟁에서 이기는 것에 달려 있습니다. 그것들은 단순한 구원 이상의 것입니다.

4. 그분은 아침의 샛별에 대해 말하십니다. 이것은 그분의 약속된 선물이며, 매우 영광스러운 선물입니다.

(1) 자연스러운 것입니다. 아침에 나타나는 단순한 어떤 별이 아니라, 하나의 "밝은 특별한 별" - 다른 무엇보다도 그 화려함으로 알려져 있으며 어두운 밤이 물러가고 밝은 낮이 온다는 것과 관련이 있는 별입니다. 이것이 뜻하는 것은, 밤은 끝났다: 낮이 오고 있다; 해가 뜨려고 한다.

(2) 상징적인 것입니다. 그리스도 예수 - 그분은 별이십니다. 그분은 주는 분이시며 선물이십니다. 마치 그분은 "내가 그에게 아침의 샛별, 보기에 밝고 아름답고; 매력적이고 영광스럽고; 여행자, 선원, 밤 경비원의 기쁨인 샛별과 같은 나 자신을 줄 것이다" 라고 말씀하신 것 같습니다.

(3) 예언적인 것입니다. 우리는 지금 믿음으로 그리스도를 얻었습니다. 그러나 우리는 그분을 아침의 샛별처럼 얻지는 않았습니다. 그때는 여전히 다가 오고 있습니다.

He who speaks is Jesus Himself.

1. He speaks as a promiser. It is to something future that He points the eye of His Churches — the things "not seen," the "things hoped for."

2. He speaks as a giver. "I will give." He has been a giver from the first.

3. He speaks to the overcomers. Though the gifts are not wages, yet they depend on our winning a battle. They are something beyond mere salvation.

4. He speaks of the morning star. This is His promised gift, and a very glorious one it is.

(1) What it is naturally. It is not any star that appears in the morning, but one — one "bright particular star" — a star which, above all others, is known for its splendour, and is connected with the departure of the night and the arrival of the day. It says, Night is done: day is coming; the sun is about to rise.

(2) What it is symbolically. Christ Jesus — He is the Star. He is the giver and the gift; as if He said, "I will give him Myself as the morning star." Bright and fair to look upon; attractive and glorious; joy of the traveller, or the sailor, or the night-watch.

(3) What it is prophetically. We get Christ, in believing, just now, but we do not get Him as the morning star. That is yet to come.
