Songs 1:16, 17
16 Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.
17 The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.
16 My love, you are handsome,
truly handsome—
the fresh green grass
will be our wedding bed

and cypress trees.

영혼이 주님의 집에 대해 기뻐하며 말하기 전에,
그녀가 언급한 것;
I. 주님에 관하여.
그녀는 그분이 미남이라고 말할 뿐만 아니라, 유쾌하다고 선언합니다. 주님의 사람들 중 많은 사람들이 여기서 실패합니다! 일부는 미남이지만, 유쾌하지 않습니다. 일부는 유쾌하지만, 미남이 아닙니다. 아! 일부는 둘 다 아닙니다.
그러나 주님에 대해서는, 그분이 대단히 멋있고 유쾌하다고 말할 수 있습니다. 외모가 멋있을 뿐만 아니라, 그분의 정신과 성품과 행실이 유쾌합니다.
II. 주님의 집에 관하여.
영혼은 주님의 집을 "우리의 집"이라고 말합니다. 우리는 그분과 매우 밀접하게 연합해서, 경외심 때문에 거의 그렇게 말하지는 않지만, 그분의 것 또한 우리들의 것으로 말할 수 있습니다.
이 구절 (16, 17)에서 그려진 그림은 시골의 즐거운 풍경중 하나입니다. 부드럽고 초록빛이 나는 잔디, 우뚝 솟아서 그늘을 만드는 나무들, 고귀한 백향목 (삼나무), 당당한 전나무 아래에 그들은 자신들을 맡겼습니다.
여기서 제시하는 것은 행복하게 안식하는 생각입니다. 시편 23:2, "그가 나를 푸른 초장에 누이시며" 등은 실질적으로 이 구절의 표현과 동일한 영적인 안식을 말해줍니다. 주님의 집은 마음과 영혼과 정신이 축복을 받으며 안식하는 곳입니다.
이 때문에 시편(Psalm) 저자는 주님의 집에서 기뻐하면서 많은 열정적인 것들을 표현했습니다. 시편 저자는 세상의 어떤 명예나 쾌락의 장소를 차지하는 것보다도, 주님 집의 문지기로 있는 것을 더 기쁘게 생각 하였습니다 (시편 84:10 주의 궁정에서 한 날이 다른 곳에서 천 날보다 나은즉, 악인의 장막에 거함보다 내 하나님 문지기로 있는 것이 좋사오니,). 마음의 갈등과 근심은 그곳에서 안식하면 평온해집니다.
시편 저자는 이 곳에서 인간을 통치하는 신성한 규칙(악한 사람들은 종종 번영하고, 선한 사람들은 쫓겨나는,)에 대하여 이야기합니다. 그 규칙이 얼마나 괴롭고, 실망스러웠던지, 하나님에 대한 그의 믿음이 파괴 되었습니다. "나는 거룩한 성역에 들어갔고; 그 이후에 나는 (그 규칙을) 이해하게 되었다." 라고 말하기 전까지.
그렇습니다. 주님은 시원하고, 상쾌한 향긋한 나무 그늘 아래, 푸른 잔디 위에서 안식할 수 있는 그림같이 아름다운 집을 우리에게 선물합니다. 그곳은 순수한 즐거움, 안식, 새로워진 마음을 얻는 장소입니다.
III. 그곳의 준비.
그곳은 "연회장"입니다. 그래서 주님께서 우리를 그곳에 데려 오시고, 우리와 함께 계십니다. (참조, 12 절: 왕이 상에 앉았을 때에, ).
IV. 그곳의 보호.
"내 위에 있는 주님의 깃발은 사랑입니다." 즉, 영혼의 보호와 방어는, 깃발을 든 군대처럼 확실하고 강한 주님의 사랑입니다. 그렇지 않습니까?
주님의 사랑을 제외하면, 무엇이 우리를 어디에서든지 지켜줍니까?
아버지의 사랑을 제외하면, 무엇이 가정을 지켜줍니까?
남편의 사랑을 제외하면, 무엇이 아내를 안전하게 보호합니까?
사랑은 항상 힘센 보호자이자, 확실한 방어자이며, 강력한 요새입니다.
"암탉은 어떻게 자신의 병아리를 보호합니까" 사랑의 힘이 아니라면?
그래서,
사랑은 항상 사랑하는 사람들을 지켜줍니다.
우리의 영혼도 그렇습니다.
주님의 사랑이 우리들의 영혼을 지켜줍니다.
Before the soul delightedly tells of the house of her Lord, she speaks -
I. OF THE LORD OF THE HOUSE.
She declares not only that he is fair, but pleasant also. How many of his people fail here! Some are fair, but not pleasant. Some are pleasant, but not fair. Alas! some are neither. But of him supremely can it be said that he is fair and pleasant. Not only fair in outward seeming, but pleasant in his spirit, temper, and demeanour.
II. OF HIS HOUSE.
The soul says "our" in speaking of his abode. And so closely are we united with him, that his people may, though out of reverence they seldom do, speak of that which is his as theirs also. The picture drawn in these verses (16, 17) is one of rural delight - the soft and verdant turf, the o'erarching and umbrageous trees, the noble cedar, the stately fir, beneath which those spoken of have cast themselves down. The ideas suggested are those of happy rest.
Psalm 23., "Thou makest me to lie down in green pastures," etc., tells substantially of the same spiritual rest. And the house of the Lord is the place of such blessed rest of heart and soul and mind.
Because of this, we find those many impassioned expressions in the Psalms as to the psalmist's delight in the house of the Lord; how he had rather be a doorkeeper there than hold any place of worldly honour or pleasure, however exalted (Psalm 84.). The agitations and cares of the mind hush themselves to rest there.
The psalmist tells in one place how the mystery of the Divine rule over men - wicked men often prospering and good men cast down - how this distressed, dismayed, and all but destroyed his faith in God, "until," he says, "I went into the sanctuary; then I understood." Yes, the house of the Lord should be, and often is to his people, what this beautiful picture of rest on the green grass, beneath the cool, refreshing shade of fragrant and stately trees, presents to us - a place of pure delight, rest, and refreshment of heart.
III. ITS PROVISIONS.
It is a "banqueting house." It is so when the Lord brings us there and is with us there (cf. on ver. 12).
IV. ITS DEFENCE.
"His banner over me is love." That is, the soul's protection and guard, so sure and strong as that of a banner-led host, is the Lord's love. Is it not so? What guards us there and everywhere but his love? What is the defence of the home but the father's love? What the safeguard of the wife but her husband's love? Love is always a mighty protector, a sure defence, a strong bulwark. "How doth the hen protect her brood," but by her love?
And love ever guards the beloved ones. And so with our souls,
the Lord's love is their defence.
