8 If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.

8 My dearest, if you don't know,


just follow the path of the sheep.


Then feed your young goats


8 여인 중에 어여쁜 자야 ! 네가 알지 못하겠거든 
양떼의 발자취를 따라 목자들의 장막 곁에서 
너의 염소새끼를 먹일지니라

예루살렘의 딸들 (솔로몬왕에 속한 여인들)은 
사랑하는 사람을 애원하듯 찾는 그녀에게 
경멸적으로 말했지만, 
그렇게 말할 때 그 말 속에 위대한 영적인 
진리를 담으려고 할 의도는 없었습니다. 

마치 가야바가 “한 사람이 백성을 위해 
죽는 것이 낫다”라고 말할 때와 유사합니다. 
속죄의 교리는 그 가야바 말속에 있었습니다. 

이와 같이 주님을 찾는 영혼들을 위한 신성한 
제안은 바로 예루살렘 딸들이 한 이 말속에서 
발견됩니다.

유사한 구절 또는이 구절에 대한 주석은 
히브리서 11:12, "믿음으로 그들을 따르는 
자들이 되십시오" 등입니다. 

자, 이 구절에서 다음과 같은 것을 제안할 수 
있습니다. 우리가 하나님을 찾고자 한다면 -

I. 우리는 앞으로 나아가야합니다. 
(참조 히브리서 13:13, "그에게로 가자" 등)

우리는 
(1) 세계에서; 
(2) 알려진 죄에서; 
(3) 매일의 평범한 신앙속에서 
머물 수 없습니다


II. 우리의 길은 주님의 진실한 사람들 길이어야 
합니다.

우리는 "양 떼의 발자취"를 따라 가야합니다. 
(양떼가 누구인지에 관해서는, 참조. 요한복음 10). 
그들은 그리스도의 참된 양들입니다 
(예수님이 "내 양"이라고 부르는 사람들).

양떼들은 무관심하고 낯선 사람들이 아니며, 
무엇보다도 예수님에게 적대적인 사람들이 
아닙니다. 오히려 예수님을 따르고 
"예수님이 가는 곳마다" 그를 따르던 
사람들입니다.

우리가 무엇을 하면 좋을지 잘 모를때에는, 
같은 상황에서 그리스도의 진실한 
추종자들이라면 무엇을 할 것인지?를 
자문해 보는 것이 좋습니다. 

그런 사람들은 발자국을 남기고, 
그 발자국들은 명확하게 식별이 됩니다. 
그래서 우리가 그 발자국들을 따라가면, 
그들이 어디에 있는지를 알수 있습니다.


III. 우리는 주님 목자의 말씀에 따라 
우리의 영혼을 먹여야합니다.

(참조 히브리서 13 : 7, "당신을 다스리는 
사람들, 당신에게 하나님의 말씀을 전한 
사람들을 기억하십시오."등) 
그러한 말씀은 성경과 많은 기독교 강단에서 
말하고 있으며, 주님을 찾는 사람들은, 
진실한 목사님의 설교에서 힘과 도움을 
얻고 있습니다.

강단에서 농담과 비웃음을 하기 쉬우며, 
오래된 목재들 속에 버려 질 때라고 말하기 
쉽습니다. 그러나 강단을 그리스도께서 
보내신 진실한 목사님에게 맡기면, 
그 목사님이 하는 말씀은 여전히 하나님의 
양 떼를 먹이는 것입니다. 
특히 “선한목자”이신 예수님의 말씀을 
먹이도록 합시다. 

이런 권고에 순종하지 않는다면, 우리는 
찾고 있는 예수님을 절대로 발견할 수 
없을 것입니다.


IV. 그를 찾은 사람들은 그에게 매우 
사랑스럽습니다.

그녀는 그를 "내 영혼이 사랑하는 당신"이라고 
말했고, 그는 그녀를 "여인들 사이에서 가장 
아름다운 사람"이라고 불렀습니다. 

그녀는 자신에 대해 "나는 검다"라고 말했지만, 
그는 그녀에게 "당신은 최고로 예쁘다"라고 
말합니다. 이것은 많은 성서에서 가르치고 있듯이  

하나님의 안목에서는, 
하나님의 자녀들이 무척 아름답고, 또 그들을 
무척 기뻐하고 계시다는 것을 의미합니다.

The daughters of Jerusalem -the inmates of Solomon's harem - who scornfully addressed these words to the faithful girl who was mourning after her beloved, never meant to utter a great spiritual truth when they thus spoke; any more than Caiaphas did when he said, "It is expedient that one man die for the people." 

The doctrine of the atonement is in that Caiaphas-speech; and so, sacred suggestions for souls that seek their Lord are found in these words of Jerusalem's daughters. 

The parallel passage, or comment on this verse, is Hebrews 11:12, "Be ye followers of them who through faith," etc. Now, it is suggested by this verse that if we would find God -

I. WE MUST GO FORTH. (Cf. Hebrews 13:13, "Let us go forth unto him," etc.) 
We cannot stay

(1) in the world; or

(2) in any known sin; or

(3) amid the common religionism of the day.

II. OUR WAY MUST BE THE WAY OF THE LORD'S TRUE PEOPLE. 

We must go by "the footsteps of the flock." As to who the flock are, cf. John 10. 
They are the true sheep of Christ; those whom he calls "my sheep." 
They consist not of those who are indifferent, still less strangers, and, least of all, hostile to him; but of those who have followed him, and do follow him "whithersoever he goeth." 

It is good, oftentimes, when we are in doubt as to what we should do, to ask ourselves what some sincere follower of Christ whom we have known would have done in like circumstances. Such people leave footprints, and they are clearly discernible, and if we track them we shall come where they are.

III. WE MUST FEED OUR SOULS UPON THE WORDS OF THE LORD'S SHEPHERDS. 

(Cf. Hebrews 13:7, "Remember those who have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God," etc.) Such words are spoken in the Scriptures, and from many a Christian pulpit, and they who seek the Lord have ever found strength and help in the preaching of the Lord's true pastors. 

It is easy to joke and jibe at the pulpit, and to say it is time that it were put away amidst old lumber; but let the pulpit be filled by a real Christ-given pastor, the words that are uttered from it shall still feed the flock of God. 
But especially let us feed upon the Word of him who is "the good Shepherd." We shall never find him whom we seek unless we obey these counsels.

IV. THOSE WHO WOULD THUS FIND HIM ARE VERY DEAR TO HIM. 

The speaker had addressed him as "thou whom my soul loveth," and now he addresses her as the "fairest among women." 
She had said of herself, "I am black," but he says to her, "Thou fairest," etc. 

All this suggests what so many Scriptures teach as to the children of God being "beautiful" in his sight, and as to his rejoicing over them.
